The Rude Boys – Larry Marcus, Melvin Sephus, and brothers Edward Lee Banks and Joe Little III – took the world by storm when, along with mentor Gerald Levert, they presented the groups debut album in 1990 on Atlantic Records, entitled ‘Rude Awakening’. This track was the mega hit from the album which won R&B Billboard Song of The Year for 1991 and peaked at #13 on the top 100 pop chart – also topping charts around the world. Whilst Gerald Levert was not the main vocalist, his input and sound is unmistakable. This tune reminds me of the days when I used to rave in Mingles on a Thursday and Sunday practically every week and it would get rinsed right to the very last note. Love it!
