On the other hand, lots of people, like the questioner below, assume that they know Obama’s official name at the time was “Barry Soetoro.”

Can a record label trademark your stage name?

I am signed to a record label in which I have recorded songs and promoted under my stage name. Now because of a personal dispute with one of the now label heads, he has informed me that he has copyrighted my stage name and that I need to remove all of my music and stop using the name. From my understanding, you cannot copyright a name. You have to get a trademark. But is this legal?
Im a rapper about to sign with universal records but I still dont have a rap name, do u have any suggestions?

I want to know what would be a good name for a record label. I want it to be professional where it will become a household name and where it appeals to the younger generations. I only would like for serious people to answer this question. I need something that is not used yet and the name will set out. I was going to name my label Rigorous Entertainment but someone already got Rigorous Recordings.
