Check out my backstage interview with Boys Like Girls on the Bamboozle Road Show 2010 Boys Like Girls is a pop punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. They are best known for their breakthrough single The Great Escape, as well as their consistant success on radio with hits like Love Drunk, Two Is Better Than One and Thunder. The band originated when lead singer Martin Johnson recruited bassist Bryan Donahue and drummer John Keefe into his new band. Soon after the group created a page on Purevolume and uploaded demo versions of The Great Escape and Thunder. Hype began to surround the act and by the end of the year, they were listed as the #1 Unsigned Artist on the website. All of that changed when Boys Like Girls signed to Columbia Records in 2006 and began work on their debut album. With full label support the band embarked on a tour with Cute Is What We Aim For and All Time Low. And in August, their self titled debut hit stores nationwide. Featuring the hit singles The Great Escape, Thunder and Hero/Heroine, the band was soon getting extensive radio play as well as appearing on shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live and MTV’s TRL. The band also continued extensive touring with superstar acts like Cobra Starship and Motion City Soundtrack. The band’s popularity grew so fast that they were able to do a co-headlining tour with Good Charlotte, one of the most popular pop punk bands of the decade, soon after the album’s release. The Rude Boys – Larry Marcus, Melvin Sephus, and brothers Edward Lee Banks and Joe Little III – took the world by storm when, along with mentor Gerald Levert, they presented the groups debut album in 1990 on Atlantic Records, entitled ‘Rude Awakening’. This track was the mega hit from the album which won R&B Billboard Song of The Year for 1991 and peaked at #13 on the top 100 pop chart – also topping charts around the world. Whilst Gerald Levert was not the main vocalist, his input and sound is unmistakable. This tune reminds me of the days when I used to rave in Mingles on a Thursday and Sunday practically every week and it would get rinsed right to the very last note. Love it!

It was the fourth country single released from her 1997 multi-platinum album, Come on Over, while it was the second to be released to North American pop radio and third to international markets. The song was written by Mutt Lange and Shania Twain. It became her second biggest single on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to become Twain’s ninth top-ten single on the Billboard Country singles chart. It was also her second number one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary singles chart. The original version of the song featured fellow country singer Bryan White, while a new re-recorded version featured Twain solo. “From This Moment On” was included in both the Come on Over and Up! tours, as well as her Miami, Chicago and Up! Close and Personal specials. Twain has stated that during performances of the song on stage at shows, there have been incidents of couples proposing to each other.
