Less Than Jake interview JR the saxophone player from the band Less Than Jake sat down this past weekend in Philadelphia and spoke to me about their new album GNV FLA. Their new album is named after the airport abbreviation codes for Gainesville, Florida. JR talks about the business side of the band and their new record label. Less Than Jake jumped to and from major labels over the last decade and finally decided to start their own record label and hold onto control of all music, merchandise, and live shows. The interview runs just under thirty minutes, but the points he talks about are very important for anyone who is in an independent band. Less Than Jake have been together doing their music for over fifteen years, and expect to see them for at least another fifteen to come! The video includes live performances of Does The Lion City Still Roar, Johnny Quest Thinks We’re Sellouts, and All My Best Friend Are Metalheads. Sometimes ppl do their best work when they are the most pissed off. Most punk bands are like that. If you were punk you’d know that mcast2. Their new cd does suck but I still love LTJ!!!!

hello rockview is their best album….funny that is came out when they were with Capital Records which they said was the worst time of their career

but they are both good songs in their own way. that’s why their such a great band, because they can change styles and still make great music

I live in chicago, I don’t like Florida because it’s too hot.

Make more ska songs!! Less Than Jake can hardly be considered ska anymore because its just punk with horns. its lost its ska shine
Bring it back!

I see your point. I’m not saying all of IWTOC songs are great . There are songs like “Gotta Let Her Go” and “Overrated’ which aren’t exactly kickass imo. But again you can say that about any album from any artist, with very few exceptions.
Now come on, pitting ANY song against SIYGT just isn’t fair

Yes i have heard and own both songs, i have a lot more respect for Rest of My Life because its written about his grandad when he died. But sugar in your gas tank is still good too. (:

Ever heard the song “Rest of my live”?
If so, compare it with “Sugar in your gas tank”.
And see it for yourself.

JR is freaking awesome. hes my idol!
July 29th, 2010 at 12:02 pm
I agree. People have always told me that it was their worst but when I listened to it, I liked it a lot. It was more of an alternative record for LTJ and less of a ska take
