Great song ! Imo Carl did some of his best work around this time.
The version with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers from ‘96 is also great

Where do you get that. A lot of the chords, progressions, licks, singing style..etc. was influenced by Carl Perkins early on (including playing in E). He did get angry at points in his life, but that’s because he was in a severe car wreck, & lost his opportunity to be recognized the way he should have. He was also jerked around in recording contracts as well.

Thanks Carl!! By the way he was one
of the hers that the Beatles looked up to.

Where did you come up with the “asshole” description? Always a class guy and great musician. The only asshole is you

  7. ENACODNOM Says:

Most singers began very strong then had nothing much to give later. With Carl Perkins, we have the contrary: he was an asshole in his beginnings and was at his best in the late sixties and especially in the seventies! Now how can anybody explain that?

All hail, King Carl. He was an original and a Rockabilly icon.
