The Rascals – See

Got tired of searching for this, so this one’s homegrown. The Rascals were one of the best bands of the sixties, and this is one of their best songs. Enjoy the upbeat and positive vibe of this song – it transcends generations and musical eras. Dino Danelli is one of the most underrated drummers in the history of rock and roll! Originally released by Atlantic Records in 1969, from the album SEE. Currently available through Collector’s Choice. Written by Felix Cavaliere LYRICS: Things ain’t like they used to be Love’s the only thing I see Wings of life are taking flight From the darkness to the light I used to try and fly away Upon the flood of dreams Tasting all the good and bad From on the serpents tree Little ones remind us of a place we used to be Echoes of the ever land Discover who you really am Rivers rushing to the sea Love is flowing endlessly Drops of rain are never lost Soul and spirit to its source Saw you in a fairy tale Or was it just a dream White and yellow jasmine trees Times a mere machine Flashes of a new year light up a stellar sky Love is really everywhere to see it is to fly Things ain’t like they used to be If you want to you can see Words of love on chestnut trees Written by sweet memories While we are riding on the avenues of time The bird of life drinks from the cups of wine Waits until we’re ready for The princes gift of love Things ain’t like they used to be Love’s the only thing I see Wings of life are taking flight From the darkness to the

Try Ebay, they have a lot of Rascals on cd’s now….If you send me a list of what you can’t find, I’ll look for you.

I’m uploading my See 45 again. I’ll get the warning in 2 days. My 45 is my 45. I can blast it to the neighborhood on my record player (which seems to be no crime and my neighborhood is classifed as a media site by the way by the definition I read), or I can put it up on Youtube – same definition applies.

I sympathize friend. EMI has no ground to stand on. I’ve been through it. Youtube has its hands tied and generically reacts to what EMI says. EMI thinks it can block all video content from any source – 45’s, live footage, etc. EMI is looking for a class action lawsuit to be filed against them if they don’t stop attempting to force social media sites into EMI’s way of thinking.

Felix Cavaliere wrote some asskicking good songs, and was very underappreciated. This is one of my favourites but I also loved “My World”, and “Real Thing”; neither one ever got any air play but they were great. Singing The Blues Too Long is also a killer song….

Yes true; Seen them alot During 67-68, but they were really starting to expand Musically from This Time On in terms of Creating more Genres etc.in their Music. Gospel and Jazz was a Big turn On for them but got cut short. I, lived in N.Y. then and knew them well.Listen to Peaceful World ,Island Of Real ,Search & Nearness..”LIVE NOONE CAME NEAR THEM” & seen them ,w/ Lesley Wests Vagrants and Billy Joel’s The Hassles . and The Fudge -”The Rascals Kicked like Noone else”. Peace.

Not true . Top of the game was 66/69. Npne overpowered them in 1968.

Sid Bernstein, their manager, did not want them performing at Woodstock. He didn’t think it would amount to much.

  21. MyInnerEyeMike99 Says:

I wonder why they weren’t at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 or Woodstock in 1969?? They certainly had the popularity and the heady material.
