A great extended version from The Spinners! This takes me back to the Summer of 1980 – great times, great music! I’ve never heard this extended version before – just the single version. Thanks for posting this! From a time when music was MUSIC!!!

There are not many singers/groups who can cover a Sam Cooke song. Got to give credit to The Spinners. Sam would have been proud.

Such great music! I love Jonathan Edwards (lead vocal), voice, when they get to the part, “I love you for a long time – now it’s time to make you my baby…”, his voice is so silky smooth & warm on that part that it’s like a warm bowl of oatmeal (with melting butter on top), in the winter where it warms you up from the inside! Beautiful memories all way round with this group, true crooners! ;-D

“Cupid/I’ve Loved You For a Long Time”, “Working My Way Back to You/Forgive Me, Girl” and “Yesterday Once More/Nothing Remains the Same” are the 3 songs from the Spinners that I still remember after all these years. They bring back lots of memories to this “70’s Kid”.
