I have my father’s R69US and it’s been in storage for nearly 25 years, I grew up on the back of that bike.
I’m now at a point where I can begin restoring the bike but I don’t know where to start…

My smile kept getting bigger and bigger as the final assembly was coming together. I had a 1960 model R60 that I had always hoped to restore but I finally decided to let someone else play with it. I now have the next generation, 1972 R75/5 that I’ve freshened up and made look nice. I love to make old things look new again. Thanks for the story. Your dad would be very proud I’m sure.

Hi Bill, I’m from Belgium and right now I’m translating into French an article about you and your story, for a BMW magazine. This brought me here. Your story is very moving man… I’m a Pearl Jam fan myself and this song makes me think about my brother who died 12 years ago… So thank you and have a good life!

@42bill Bill I couldn’t agree more with you. And, by the way: this Eddie Vedder song was a perfect choice. I watch your slide show from time to time and it always brings me so many good feelings that I have to thank you every time I watch it. It moves me. I also feel very lucky for having restored a 1969 R60/2 during a seven year period. Thank you !! Greetings from Brazil.

@chasebh HAHA, that is actually hilarious. Somehow I don’t see future generations admiring my 2001 Seadoo quite the same way as a 1958 BMW!

I hope you son can someday do the same with that SeeDoo.

@lucmcdonald1 Thanks!
The few people who did give me a thumbs down seemed to not like the Pearl Jam song… pretty silly really, but I don’t mind. I have received the nicest comments in my life from total strangers hundreds of times. Posting my slideshow has had a great positive impact on my life.
