Orcist… James Taylor did not write the lyrics, he composed the music to accompany the lyrics written by one of our nation’s most treasured writers: Reynolds Price, who died in January 2011. Check the library for copies of his many books… Incredible author. May he rest in peace.

The genius in the lyrics was JT’s buddy, writer and professor at Duke, Reynolds Price. Of course only JT can sing like that and come up with the rocking lullaby tune!

The great troubadour and in my view the greatest male solo artist in the history – a superb writer, singer, guitarist and of course, raconteur. I’ve been a fan since 1970 and he still casts the samemspell when I hear that voice. Missed his gig in Scotland again due to other commitments but really hope to catch him in concert soon

Kick off your shoes. Find a shady tree by a meandering creek. Park yourself and let the cares of life melt away. I’ve been a fan of JT’s since the 70’s and he never fails to WoW me. A Timeless Voice.

Sweet mother of crap! I have been looking for this song for years! I first heard this on the radio when I was a little kid and I didn’t know the artist, the song title, or a majority of the lyrics, but the beat and tune was always in my head. After so many years of looking for the song, which I though was so awesome, my search is finally over.
Thank you so much, mate, for the help. And thank you, James Taylor, for writing this awesome song from my childhood.
